Black Screen on Newer Chromebooks? Fixed!
If you’ve tried running Star Stuff Edu on a newer Chromebook in the last few months, you may have run into a frustrating issue: the game would load… audio would play… but the screen stayed completely black. 😩
We heard from a handful of teachers, including teachers using Acer Chromebook 311s, Lenovo Chromebook Gen 4 devices, and other newer models. Thank you for taking the time to share details, send screenshots, and help us diagnose the problem.
Good news: the issue has officially been resolved.
The Unity version we were using was incompatible with certain Chromebook models. An engine update made it so that the game now runs correctly on all modern Chromebooks, including newer generations.
What this means for you
🎉 No more black screens — the game should load as expected on all Acer, Lenovo, and HP Chromebook models
🚀 Faster, smoother performance thanks to rendering improvements under the hood
If you’re still seeing an issue
